Water Lilies

WATER LILIES

Swamp's soft current
charges the quiet pond
Black earth's wet edge
harbors sounds in sedge
Air bubble ripples
halfway to floating green.

Under water
under mud
tubers nurture pads,
upright buds.

White petals circle
fragrant core, wilted,
submerged,
Spongy berry matures.
